Week 8 - Interpreting data & brainstorming

We are 8 weeks into fourth year, half way though the first semester and it is time to start thinking about my concept. Over the next week I am going to start creating my A3 moodboards in preparation for Guru's Day.

Guru's Day provides the opportunity for us to draw together everything we have done so far and discuss our ideas and next steps with a variety of professionals and creatives from different sectors.

Over the past 2 months I have found a topic that I am extremely passionate about and experimented with potential ways in which I can visualise the data I gather. Researching the issue of women's safety in cities and exploring the extent to which street harassment is a problem has given me an idea of what I would like to design. I want to create something that will raise awareness and encourage people to speak out against these incidents of sexual harassment. I want to come up with a concept that incorporates data visualisation in some form of installation as a way to draw people's attention to and address the issue of women's safety in cities.

A3 Moodboards

The first moodboard will summarise my project and explain what my project aims to do and cover the area I am interested in.

The second board will explain the investigating I have done so far and the key insights I have gathered. At the moment I have gathered some primary research including facts from the survey I created. I have also explored the technique of visualising information which I plan to take further as I gather more data and research over the next few weeks.

The third board will show my concept design, at the moment I am unsure on what my final outcome will be so I have included existing projects that I find inspiring. I am interested in the idea of having some sort of interactive installation that incorporates data visualisation as a way to engage people. I like the idea of representing the information I have gathered in a visually appealing form.
