Over the next week I am going to experiment with data visualisation techniques. After spending last week gathering different types of data, this week I am going to explore ways in which I can visually display it.

To begin drawing the final sketches I would look for existing patterns amongst the data and decide on a colour to represent certain types of data.

Checking the time in a day

Experimenting with different layouts allowed me to choose the one which worked best.

Visualising the data I gathered was a good way to help get rid of the artistic block I was having. It allowed me to try a new approach to gathering data and gave me some ideas of what I could potentially incorporate in my final outcome.

Drawing insights:

  • Using drawings as opposed to test is more effective because people process visuals faster and are more likely to remember what they've seen than read

  • The incorporation of public display is important in the process of changing behaviours because people want to be portrayed as good in front of others

  • People respond better to visually represented data rather than text because it appeals more aesthetically pleasing and intriguing

  • When people consciously pay attention to their actions it makes them aware of it makes them of their underlying internalised behaviours

Next steps:

  • Make x3 A3 moodboards in preparation for Guru's day
