MK1 Prototype Feedback
I need to focus more on the interaction of the storytelling experience, having more knobs and dials means there needs to be more data output. I need to explore the option of making the control panel more simple and easier for users to understand and incorporate data visualisation in some way. The less controls means less constraints and allows me more flexibility with the design.
I want to spend more time exploring the potential storytelling aspect of my installation and think about fun ways I can engage the users.
Concept development & exploration
I want to explore the potential of other interactions that could also work alongside the storytelling aspect of the installation. I want to design an interactive installation that aims to educate people and raise awareness around the issues concerning sexism in a fun and engaging way. I sketched other examples of potential interactions, I need to think about how the storytelling aspect relates to the rest of the installation and how important data visualisation plays a role.

The option of using a fortune telling wheel or a board game style adds an element of mystery and keeps the user intrigued as they move throughout the installation.

I like the aspect of storytelling but I also want to think about other interactions that could feature in the installation. After looking into existing prevention projects I realised the importance of including the users and uncovering their perceptions of certain topics. I want people to be able to view things from a different perspective so I need to think about what approach I could take. I like the idea of incorporating some sort of mystery box that immerses the user in an intimate experience.

I have also explored the option of having some form of game that encourages people to to think about the stereotypical notions of gender and the portrayal of women in the media. This is a good way to draw people's attention to their unconscious bias and form a connection between what they see in the media and how they judge people based on appearance.

I also explored the idea of using the installation as some sort of social experiment and a way to gather information surrounding the users current perceptions of and attitudes towards sexism.
Gathering Stories
In order to move forward in the development of my storytelling experience I need to gather the stories I would like to be heard as part of the installation. I am going to ask my friends, family and colleagues to share their experiences of everyday sexism and sexual harassment. Gathering this data will help solidify my concept idea and allow me to expand on what I have found.
