Over the next week I am going to explore final concept ideas and start prototyping potential installations. The past few weeks I have spent too much time getting wrapped up in the research I have started to go off track. I want to spend this week thinking of final concepts and do exploration sketches as a way to generate inspiration for my interactive installation.

Now that I have two concept ideas I want to explore their potential through prototyping so I can get a rough idea of how they will function. The first is an interactive installation that incorporates a variety of elements as a way to engage the user. The second is a storytelling experience in which the user can input information via the control panel and then they can listen to a selection of stories.

Prototyping

Thinking through making allowed me to express my ideas in a visible tangible form.

Interactive Installation

I made a model in order to get a better understanding of the size and type of interactions that I want to incorporate in my installation. This allowed me to figure out the potential interactions within my installation and how they could all work together.

I also explored the possibility of incorporating a control panel in which the users could alter the knobs and dials and relevant experiences and stories could be played to the user.

Next steps:

  • Develop concepts further in preparation for MK1
