For the first week back at University we had small group tutorials with our tutor to discuss our plans for the year a head. I have a couple of ideas but need to explore them more thoroughly, the first is the idea of designing an app for people with Coeliac Disease, it would provide a platform for people to keep track of what they are eating and manage their gluten in take. It would also offer the option to search for restaurants and shops that sell gluten free options to make shopping and dining much easier. I have had Coeliac Disease for 19 years and it's a lot easier to manage because I have lived with it my whole life. But for people who are diagnosed later in life it can be difficult to adapt and keep your gluten intake under control. I think an app would be the best solution to this problem as people could download it on their phones and have it with them at all times. It would also create a community around living a healthier lifestyle and would make it easier for people to make improvements.
The second project idea I want to explore is carrying on from last semester and looking at ways to visualise data. Last semester I initially wanted to create a live site that would display a variety of data in a visually appealing form. As the project progressed my research led me on to design an app that was much more fitting than a live site. Data visualisation is still something I am interested and I would like to research ways in which I could create a live site and what content I could incorporate.
Next steps:
Look into what is currently available for people living with Coeliac Disease
Explore a variety of potential topics that I am interested in that could coincide with the idea of a live data visualisation site
